In the Museum

For conservation, health and safety reasons it is not allowed in the museum:
• Touch the displays;
• Eat or drink;
• Smoke;
• Animals;
• No flash photography and no use of a tripod;
• Filming without authoprization from the Museum Board;
• Please note that large and wheeled suitcases that cannot be carried must be left in the reception. This is subject to availability of space, so it is recommended that visitors avoid bringing such items if possible.
For your security, most areas of the Museum are protected by CCTV.

Accepted payment methods

The museum accepts payment in cash (euros only), debit and credir cards. Please note that there is a minimum amount of 8,00 when paying by card.

Guided Tours

The Carmo Archaeological Museum offers free audioguides available in Portuguese, English, French, Italian and Spanish to its visitors (upon purchasing a ticket). With the current contigincy plan the Audio guide  service is suspended.

If you are interested, ask at the ticket office when the next guided tour will take place.

The museum offers free wi-fi for visitors. Take some photos and share them online; don't forget to tag us using #museuarqueologicodocarmo.

Accessibility Services

All public areas of the Museum are wheelchair accessible. All entrances are wheelchair accessible. Wheelchair-accessible toilet and baby-changing facilities are available.
We welcome guide dogs at the Museum.
